About Individual Counselling

Often, we are faced with turbulent, confusing, or distressing situations around family, friends, or even the workplace. Counselling provides a place to sort through all your thoughts and emotions while allowing you to address the issues that underlie the emotions that you are experiencing. When you are in the midst of a situation, it can be difficult to sort through how you and others are feeling, what the true issues are that need to be corrected, and what alternatives are available to resolve the issue.

Counselling is NOT about “helping.” It is NOT about giving advice. It is about working with you to feel “EMPOWERED”. A counsellor will help you identify and take the first steps towards making positive changes in your life. They will work with you to develop and implement a plan to resolve challenges and ensure the changes remain in effect after you conclude your therapy. A person becomes truly empowered when he or she is in the present tense incorporating and accepting all of their experiences that are unfolding before them. Once this state is achieved it is characterized by a feeling of wholeness and well-being. Individuals are happy with who they are and where they are at in their life. At this point, everything seems possible.
